🔒 Privacy First: HappyFridge Server is designed for maximum privacy. All AI processing happens locally on your Mac. Your photos never leave your local network, and we never see your data.
Introduction
HappyFridge Server ("we," "our," or "us") is a macOS companion app that provides local AI-powered food analysis. This privacy policy explains how the app handles information.
Information We DON'T Collect
We do not collect, store, or transmit to any external servers:
- Your name, email, or contact information
- Your photos or images
- Your AI analysis results
- Your usage data or analytics
- Your device identifiers
- Your network information
- Any personal information
How the App Works
Local AI Processing
- 100% On-Device: All AI models run locally on your Mac using Apple MLX
- No Cloud Services: Your photos are never sent to the internet or any cloud service
- No External APIs: Unlike cloud-based AI, everything stays on your computer
- AI models are downloaded from Hugging Face once, then stored locally
- After download, the app works completely offline
Photos & Images
- Photos are sent from your iPhone to your Mac over your local network only
- Photos are processed in real-time and immediately discarded
- We do not store, save, or retain your photos
- No photos leave your local network
- No photos are uploaded to the internet
Local Network Communication
- The app advertises itself on your local network using Bonjour
- This allows your iPhone to discover and connect to your Mac
- Communication happens only between your devices on your local network
- No data is sent outside your network
- The app requires local network permission (NSLocalNetworkUsageDescription)
Analysis Results
- AI analysis results are stored only on your iPhone
- The Mac server does not store or retain any analysis history
- Results are sent back to your iPhone and immediately forgotten
Settings & Preferences
- App settings (like last used AI model) are stored locally on your Mac
- These are stored in UserDefaults and never leave your device
- No settings or preferences are sent to us
One-Time Purchase
- The app is available as a one-time purchase
- Purchases are managed by Apple through StoreKit
- We only know if you have a valid purchase entitlement
- Payment information is handled entirely by Apple
- We never see your payment details
Third-Party Services
Hugging Face (One-Time Download Only)
- AI models are downloaded once from Hugging Face
- This is a one-time download when you first load a model
- After download, no further communication with Hugging Face occurs
- Downloaded models are stored locally on your Mac
- Subject to Hugging Face's privacy policy

- On-device AI processing framework by Apple
- Runs entirely locally on your Mac
- No data sent to Apple during AI processing
Data Security

Since all processing happens locally on your Mac, your data never crosses international borders. Your data stays in your home or office.
